We all know about “Black Friday” as that famous shopping day (or weekend, and now expanded to weeks!), followed by “Shop Small Saturday” and “Cyber Monday.” Well, a few years back some big-hearted folks decided that doing good ought to have its day, as well. Enter, #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (December 3rd, this year), #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
Cheryl & I have been inspired in years past to make a gift to charities we support. As we approach another #GivingTuesday we thought, why not give to the “charity” nearest and dearest to our hearts? You guessed it – West Lawn UMC!
If you, or someone you know, is interested in changing lives for the better, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, ministering to the outcast, or introducing people young and old to the Creator of us all, we encourage you to make a gift to West Lawn UMC this#GivingTuesday .
· Gifts can be made through our website – www.westlawnumc.org; click on Give
· Download to your phone or tablet the app “GivePlus,” register a card or bank account, and follow the directions.
· Or, go “old school” and send a check to “West Lawn UMC.”
Your giving really does make a difference. Every gift is of eternal value. Thank you for your support, on #GivingTuesday, and all year long.
