The Reverend Nicolas Camacho is an Ordained Elder pastor with the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. Currently he is pursuing a Master Degree in International Relations with a concentration in Conflict Resolutions at American Public University in West Virginia. He is an Army Brigade Chaplain with experience in World Religion and Culture. In addition to his army experience as a chaplain, he is a certified Community Developer and has coached and mentored Latino churches and pastors as a consultant in congregation development and transformation. He is appointed to West Lawn UMC as Pastor of Community Outreach.
Pastor Nick grew up in Puerto Rico and was transferred by the United Methodist Church in June 1983 to serve the Latino ministry in the city of Reading. He served the United Methodist Church in Reading for twenty-sixth years. He considers Reading “as the place that brings continuous challenge and passion in his devotion for urban ministries.” He is a passionate traveler who loves to visit other countries. One of his goals is to take a group of people to Israel every year to visit the Land of his Savior. Pastor Nick is a crazy individual who loves to exercise, play racquetball and road biking.
He is married to Carmen R. Quinonez, of Carolina, Puerto Rico. They have one grown daughter, Rose Marie. Nick and Carmen have long felt a strong commitment and passion to ministry in the city and now in the West Lawn area. They have made West Lawn UMC their church and are devoted and committed to work together and help our church to fulfill its vision. Using the words of Rev. Martin Luther King, Nick also has a dream about West Lawn UMC, “I have a dream in which I see our church reaching out individuals for the Kingdom of God beyond all human boundaries…”
